The State Transport Authority (STA) has launched the Junior Rakhshak training program for National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets.
The initiative aims to equip youth with essential skills in first aid, emergency response, and accident management, fostering a generation of road safety ambassadors.
The training program saw the participation of 500 students from Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar, who underwent master trainer instruction to take on leadership roles in road safety awareness. These trained cadets are expected to educate their peers and communities, ensuring safer roads across Odisha.
Speaking on the occasion, an STA official stated, “This program instils a sense of responsibility among students and empowers them to take ownership of road safety. By training NCC cadets, we are creating a network of informed and disciplined youth who can assist in emergency situations.”
The initiative aligns with efforts to reduce road accidents and promote a culture of safe driving and proactive emergency response. The cadets will also play a role as student traffic volunteers, working alongside authorities to regulate traffic and improve overall road safety.
With Odisha consistently working towards enhancing public safety measures, the Junior Rakhshak program is a step toward building a more aware and responsible society. The STA hopes to expand this training model across various educational institutions, encouraging widespread participation and long-term impact.
