A 35‑year‑old man was found hanging inside his employer’s office at NAC New Market near Panposh Square in Rourkela on Tuesday, sparking a police investigation.
The deceased, identified as Ashwini Kumar Barik of Sector‑6 C Block, was discovered inside the office of Balaji Developers. Local shopkeepers noticed the office was locked from the inside throughout the day. When they peered through the glass window, they saw a man hanging from the ceiling fan and immediately alerted the police.
Raghunathpali police recovered the body and sent it to Rourkela Government Hospital for a post‑mortem. Officers are probing whether the case involves suicide or murder. Ashwini had reportedly quit his job at Balaji Developers a few days earlier, raising questions about how he entered the office and who might have given him access.
Ashwini’s father, Adhir Barik and brother Manoj Barik demanded a thorough investigation to uncover the truth. Police said further clarity will emerge after the post‑mortem report.
