Sanju Samson, the star of India’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, turned heads not only for his brilliant batting but also for his emotional tribute to his wife, Charulatha Samson, acknowledging the role she played in his journey.
Samson ended the tournament with 321 runs in five matches, earning the Player of the Tournament title. Highlights included a 97-run innings against West Indies, 89 against England, and another 89 in the final against New Zealand. Despite these match-winning performances, his most heartfelt words were reserved for his partner.
“Right from the day I met you, till this day of my life… Thank you for being by my side, loving me for who I am… seeing my best side, seeing my worst side, and still standing strong by me,” Samson wrote on Instagram.
The tribute reflected a period of uncertainty following India’s New Zealand series in January. Samson admitted he was feeling low and out of rhythm, and it was Charulatha’s support that helped him regain positivity and focus.
Speaking to reporters in Thiruvananthapuram, Samson elaborated:
“I knew I was not going to be part of the team, so I asked her to be with me because I was not at my best self. She backed me and kept me in a really great space of mind… When I was happy and got the opportunity, I did what I could do.”
After the final, Samson returned home to meet his parents first, acknowledging their role in nurturing his cricketing journey. He also expressed gratitude to fans worldwide for their support and prayers.
Samson’s story highlighted that while his on-field performances lit up the T20 World Cup, it was his emotional support system off the field that enabled him to shine.
