Parmeshwar Funkwal, General Manager of East Coast Railway (ECoR), conducted an intensive inspection of the Balugaon-Palasa Railway Section to assess the progress of safety measures, traffic facilities, passenger amenities, and infrastructure development.
The inspection was part of ECoR’s ongoing commitment to enhancing rail services and ensuring passenger satisfaction.
During his visit, Shri Funkwal thoroughly reviewed various ongoing infrastructure projects, particularly focusing on the station redevelopment work under the Amrit Station Scheme. He expressed satisfaction with the progress and emphasized the need for timely completion of these essential upgrades to improve the overall passenger experience.
He also paid special attention to the cleanliness and quality of food services provided at the Running Rooms. His inspection also included visits to the bridges at Sompeta and Ichhapuram, where he evaluated safety measures and infrastructure integrity.
At Palasa Station, he took the opportunity to inspect the Railway Colony, the Running Room for staff and the Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) Building. During this visit, he also recognized the efforts of the Running Room staff by presenting them with cash awards for their outstanding maintenance and cleanliness.
Additionally, he inspected the safety aspects of train operations at Palasa and Ichhapuram, including the bridge near Palasa, the Railway Colony at Ichhapuram Yard, and the TRD Depot. He also reviewed health services, passenger amenities and ongoing developmental works at Brahmapur Station.
In the course of his inspection, Shri Funkwal met with public representatives and members of various organizations to gather suggestions for further improvements in the region’s railway services.
The inspection was accompanied by Shri H S Bajwa, Divisional Railway Manager, Khurda Road, along with other Senior Railway Officials from ECoR Headquarters and Khurda Road Railway Division.
