Dr. Brundha D Assumes Charge as Odisha SSEPD Commissioner-cum-Secretary

Senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Dr. Brundha D, IAS, today assumed charge as the Commissioner-cum-Secretary to Government, Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD), Government of Odisha.


Upon assuming charge, Dr. Brundha D, IAS, sought the continued cooperation and collective support of all officers and employees of the Department to further advance the Government’s commitment towards social security, dignity, inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities and senior citizens.

Following her assumption of charge, Dr.Brundha D, IAS, was welcomed by Ms. Rajani Jani, SSEPD Department, Special Secretary Ms. Jayashree Tripathi, Financial Advisor-cum-Special Secretary, Additional Secretaries Shri Deepak Routray, Smt. Sonia Behera & Shri Bhaskar Raito and other senior officers and employees of the Department.

The Commissioner-cum-Secretary subsequently interacted with senior departmental officers and received a detailed briefing on the mandate of the Department, major welfare initiatives, ongoing programmes, organisational matters, and key areas of intervention concerning persons with disabilities, senior citizens, transgender persons and other vulnerable sections of society.

During the interaction, Dr. Brundha D emphasised the need for greater organisational coordination at all levels and strengthening streamlined administrative processes to ensure the efficient, transparent and time-bound implementation of welfare schemes and programmes.

She stressed the importance of ensuring that the benefits of social security schemes reach the intended beneficiaries in an effective and timely manner. She called upon the officers of the Department to work in close coordination with one another and maintain effective communication at all levels.

Dr. Brundha D also emphasised the need to leverage technology, data-driven monitoring mechanisms and effective field-level coordination for improved implementation, monitoring and delivery of departmental programmes and social security initiatives.
