India women’s cricket team won the toss and elected to bat first in a high-stakes encounter against Australia in the 2nd ODI, with the visitors determined to level the series and keep their campaign alive. Australia currently lead 1–0, adding extra intensity to an already gripping contest.

India Seek Stronger Collective Performance

India head into the Hobart fixture focused on building a more complete performance after falling short in Brisbane. While Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur produced composed half-centuries in the previous match, the team will be aiming for greater consistency across the batting order to post a commanding total.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur confirmed that India opted to set a target, emphasizing confidence in the squad’s ability to play with freedom and intent.

“We have chosen to bat first because, as a group, we felt it was the right call to set a total and play freely. My knee is fine now — it was just a small niggle earlier. We have made two changes, with Shafali and Renuka resting. Amanjot and Vaishnavi come into the XI, and it is a proud moment for Vaishnavi to make her debut,” Harmanpreet said.

India’s bowling unit showed promise in the series opener but will look to apply sustained pressure through the middle overs and capitalize on key moments.

Australia Confident but Cautious

Australia arrive in Hobart with confidence after a composed chase in the opening ODI. Captain Alyssa Healy noted that her side would have preferred to bowl first, especially with early assistance expected from the surface.

“We were happy to bowl first and stick to what we do well, especially with some live grass on the wicket. If we start strongly with the ball, it sets up the innings for us,” Healy said.

Australia have made one change, with Nic Carey replacing Sophie Molineux, who is sidelined with a niggle. With momentum on their side, the hosts are aiming to build on their disciplined bowling and deep batting lineup.

Electric Atmosphere Expected in Hobart

The stage is set for another thrilling chapter in this closely contested series. India are determined to bounce back, while Australia are eager to extend their lead and move closer to sealing the series. With both teams showcasing depth, resilience, and tactical sharpness, fans can expect a fiercely competitive showdown in Hobart.
