Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Energy, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, chaired a high-level review meeting to address growing power reliability concerns and evaluate electricity services managed by Tata Power in the Niali constituency.

Attended by Niali MLA Chhabi Malik along with senior ministry officials and representatives from Tata Power, the meeting focused on immediate interventions needed to stabilize the local energy grid.

Issuing strict directives to the distribution company, the Deputy Chief Minister prioritized the comprehensive renovation, stabilization, and capacity expansion of the region’s critical 33KV transmission line network. To mitigate frequent disruptions, Tata Power was instructed to expedite the technical restoration and modern upgradation of Air Break (AB) switches and power distribution transformers.

Addressing operational hazards, Singh Deo ordered immediate, targeted maintenance drives to clear heavy vegetation and creepers entangled around transformers and power lines—a primary cause of local short-circuits and unannounced outages. The Minister also laid strong emphasis on public safety, mandating the strict enforcement of household earthing safety standards throughout Niali.

Emphasizing accountability, the Deputy Chief Minister cautioned officials and service providers that execution speed and work quality will be under constant monitoring. He announced plans to personally conduct unannounced surprise field visits to the Niali area to verify the progress of ground-level renovations.
