Paradip: A dolphin which had entered a broken fishing trawler in Paradip fishing harbor, finally died after a long struggle. Local fishermen recovered the carcass of the rare species after high tide subsided and handed over the carcass to forest department.
During the high tide, the dolphin entered the jetty in the fishing harbour. As there was no way to stay inside the jetty due to high tide, it entered the store of a broken trawler inside the jetty. It was difficult for the fishermen to get the dolphin out of the water-filled wrecked boat.
After the tide receded, the fisherman rescued the dolphin. However, it was found dead by the time.
This rare species of dolphin, which is a friend of man in the sea, could have survived if the forest department had come and rescued it in time, fishermen said.
Kujang forest team seized the carcass of the aquatic animal.
