Bhubaneswar: Alleging police inaction against Minister Samir Dash who was allegedly involved in the death of zilla parishad member Dharmendra Sahu, hundreds of BJP activists on Saturday gheraoed the office of the deputy commissioner of police (DCP) here.
The safron party members demanded immediate arrest of the minister and a thorough investigation into the case.
The party alleged that the probe process has slowed down due to the involvement of a powerful minister. If the investigation doesn’t go in the right direction, the agitation would be intensified in coming days, protesters warned.
Police are hesitant to bring minister and others who were named by Dharmendra in the audio, under the purview of investigation. Police are trying to suppress the matter, BJP leader Prabhati Parida said.
Dharmendra was heard saying that political reason was behind his family disturbance. “What is the political reason? Who is behind the scene? Police should clear the air,” Parida said.
