Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan has written to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, requesting immediate repairs to National Highway‑55, which connects Sambalpur, Anugola, and Kataka.
In his letter, Pradhan highlighted the deteriorating condition of the highway, citing large potholes, damaged stretches, and waterlogging caused by heavy rainfall and high vehicular movement. He urged Gadkari’s personal intervention to ensure urgent maintenance and restore safe travel conditions.
The highway, a vital transport and logistics corridor linking western Odisha with the coastal region, has become hazardous for commuters and freight operators. Locals report frequent traffic disruptions and accidents due to poor visibility of deep potholes during the monsoon.
Pradhan emphasised that timely repairs would facilitate smoother movement of essential goods and improve safety for passengers. He requested the ministry to direct concerned authorities to undertake immediate restoration work along the Sambalpur–Kataka stretch.
