The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has summoned top executives from Air India and Air India Express for an urgent meeting following the tragic crash of flight AI171 from Ahmedabad to London, which resulted in the deaths of 241 passengers.

The DGCA has intensified its probe into the incident, demanding airline safety compliance records and operational details.

In addition to investigating the crash, the aviation regulator is also looking into ongoing flight disruptions affecting international travel. The meeting will be chaired by DG Fazi Ahmed Kidwai and will address safety protocols, pilot training procedures, and operational irregularities within the airline.

Officials summoned to the meeting include Air India MD & CEO Campbell Wilson, Director of Flight Operations Captain Pankul Mathur, and Air India Express CEO Aloke Singh, among other key stakeholders. The DGCA has also ordered a review of pilot training records and safety compliance measures across flying schools in India to prevent future incidents.

This development comes amid growing concerns regarding India’s aviation safety standards, with passengers and industry experts demanding accountability for lapses in operational oversight. The DGCA’s findings and recommendations following the meeting are expected to shape future safety regulations and policies for Indian carriers.
