Bhubaneswar: The Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar witnessed a massive influx of devotees on the first day of 2025, as thousands gathered to offer prayers and seek blessings from Lord Shiva. The historic temple, renowned for its architectural grandeur and spiritual significance, became a focal point for New Year celebrations in the capital city.
From the early hours of the morning, devotees formed long queues, braving the winter chill to participate in the special rituals and ceremonies organized for the occasion. The temple premises were adorned with vibrant decorations, and the air was filled with the sounds of devotional chants and hymns.
Temple authorities had made extensive arrangements to manage the large crowds, ensuring a smooth and orderly flow of visitors. Security measures were heightened, with additional police personnel deployed to maintain order and assist the devotees.
Many visitors expressed their joy and gratitude for being able to start the new year with a visit to the revered shrine. “It’s a blessing to be here on the first day of the year. We pray for health, happiness, and prosperity for everyone,” said Anjali Mishra, a devotee from Cuttack.
The Lingaraj Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of the oldest and most significant temples in Odisha. It attracts pilgrims and tourists from across the country, especially during major festivals and auspicious occasions.
