A devastating fire at Lemon Green Restaurant in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar killed at least 20 people on Wednesday morning, creating panic across the area.
The Delhi Fire Service received information about the blaze around 9 a.m. and immediately dispatched ten firefighting vehicles, including two water tenders, two water bowsers, and a quick response unit. Firefighters rushed to the spot and battled intense flames and heavy smoke.
Eyewitnesses reported a woman jumping from an upper floor of the building in a desperate attempt to escape the fire. Firefighters rescued three people from the basement and rushed them to a hospital, though their condition remained uncertain.
The fire spread rapidly through the restaurant, trapping several people inside. Rescue teams worked tirelessly to control the blaze and evacuate survivors. The incident shocked residents and raised urgent questions about fire safety in commercial establishments.
Officials confirmed that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Investigators will examine the site to establish whether electrical faults, negligence, or other factors triggered the tragedy.
