Cuttack: The Commissionerate police has decided to deploy 50 platoons of police force with 300 senior officers in the Silver city to maintain law and order during Diwali and Kali Pauja celebrations.

Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra on Sunday said that adequate measures have been taken to ensure hassle-free and crime free celebration during the festival.

“Six officers of Additional DCP rank, around 37 officers of ASP rank, 55 officers of inspector rank, 282 officers have been deployed across the city to maintain law and order,” he said.

Police also issued a set of guidelines for Diwali celebration. People have been allowed to burst crackers for 2 hours starting 8 pm on Diwali. Crackers having sound limit of 125 decibel are allowed to be used. Bursting of crackers in sensitive zones like hospitals is strictly restricted, Mishra added.
