Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that retirement is approaching, marking the beginning of the end for one of football’s most iconic careers.
In a candid interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored, the 40-year-old Al Nassr and Portugal star opened up about his future. “Soon. But I think I will be prepared,” Ronaldo said, acknowledging the emotional weight of stepping away from the game. “It will be very, very difficult. Probably will cry.”
Ronaldo, who has scored an astonishing 952 goals, emphasized that he began preparing for life after football in his mid-20s. He expressed confidence in handling the transition, citing his desire to spend more time with family and pursue personal interests like playing padel with friends.
“Nothing compares to the adrenaline of scoring a goal,” he admitted. “But everything has a beginning, and everything has an end.”
Ronaldo’s career began at Sporting Lisbon and flourished at Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus. He won three Premier League titles and a Champions League with United, followed by two La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies with Madrid. He joined Al Nassr in 2022 and remains under contract until 2027.
Despite his move to Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo still follows Manchester United closely. He praised manager Ruben Amorim, his former Portugal teammate, but cautioned fans against expecting miracles. “Manchester United is still in my heart,” he said. “But they are not on a good path. It’s not only about the coach and players.”
