In an active effort to boost health education, prevent infections, and eliminate social stigma associated with HIV/AIDS, Radio Bhubaneswar (89.2 FM) has launched a comprehensive awareness initiative.
The program is being executed in collaboration with the Odisha State AIDS Control Society (OSACS) and the Odisha Community Radio Association (OCRA).
As part of this outreach, a special orientation program was recently hosted at the PJ College of Management and Technology, drawing enthusiastic participation from around 100 students. The interactive session featured expert insights from ICTC counsellor Sadhwī Sharmistha, who detailed vital aspects of prevention, timely testing, counselling protocols, and essential healthcare access.
The discussions heavily emphasised debunking persistent myths while fostering a compassionate, empathy-driven mindset toward people living with HIV/AIDS.
The event was graced by OCRA Coordinator Pradipta Kumar Dutta, while PJ College Principal Ashish Kumar Beuria commended Radio Bhubaneswar for championing such a crucial public health cause. The session was skillfully coordinated by Radio Jockey Prateeksha Jena.
Going beyond ground events, Radio Bhubaneswar has rolled out a month-long on-air campaign. This expansive media blitz features dedicated radio magazine segments, expert interviews, and thematic awareness jingles designed to dismantle fear and prejudice across wider communities.
Through these multi-pronged efforts, Radio Bhubaneswar continues to leverage community radio as a powerful tool to nurture a well-informed, sensitive, and discrimination-free younger generation in Odisha.
