Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday conducted an aerial survey of flood‑affected areas across five districts, covering more than 12 blocks.
He was accompanied by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari and the Special Relief Commissioner.
Majhi reported that 8 lakh people have been affected, while 2.69 lakh have been evacuated to safer locations. He directed officials to submit damage assessment reports within three days of water receding, assuring that relief packages for agriculture and housing losses will be provided immediately thereafter.
The CM said the situation is gradually improving, with water levels expected to recede within two days. He emphasised the government’s focus on Zero Casualty, noting that 17 ODRAF units, 7 NDRF teams, and 129 Fire Services squads are engaged in rescue operations. Relief camps have been set up with provisions for shelter, food, drinking water, and medical care.
Majhi confirmed that Rs 26 crore has been sanctioned from SDRF for ongoing relief and rehabilitation. He also instructed immediate repair of damaged roads and stressed vigilance against post‑flood health risks. Senior officials are monitoring relief and restoration efforts at the ground level.
