A major accident was averted early Saturday morning when an Orange Travels bus travelling from Bhubaneswar to Malkangiri caught fire near Ramabhadrapuram on the national highway in Andhra Pradesh.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m., but all 37 passengers escaped unharmed due to the driver’s quick response.

Witnesses reported that flames suddenly engulfed the bus while it was in motion. The driver immediately stopped the vehicle, alerted passengers, and guided them to safety. His presence of mind prevented a tragedy.

Chitrakonda MLA Mangu Khilla, who was also on board, assisted in the rescue operation. He helped evacuate passengers and ensured they were shifted to a safe location. Later, another private bus transported the stranded passengers to continue their journey.

MLA Khilla praised the driver’s alertness and confirmed that the bus was completely gutted in the fire. He stated that all passengers were rescued and safely relocated. The incident highlighted the importance of vigilance during night travel and strict adherence to safety measures.
