Amid growing concerns over a range of pressing public issues, Congress Legislature Party leader Ramchandra Kadam has written to the Governor urging an early convening of the Odisha Legislative Assembly’s monsoon session.

In his letter, Kadam highlighted that the state is currently grappling with multiple urgent challenges, including agriculture, drinking water supply, rural infrastructure, education, healthcare, tribal welfare, effective implementation of government welfare schemes, law and order, unemployment, rising prices, and preparedness for natural disasters.

He stressed that an immediate discussion in the Assembly is essential so that elected representatives can raise constituency-specific problems and the government can provide appropriate responses. “Urgent public grievances and developmental issues must be given due importance through an early session,” Kadam said.

Opposition leaders have accused the government of adopting delaying tactics on the monsoon session. However, Speaker Surama Padhy has clarified that the session will be held as per the regular schedule and in accordance with established rules and the predetermined agenda. “The monsoon session will take place at the time it is supposed to. Further sittings will follow as per norms,” the Speaker stated.

The exchange underscores the political pressure building around the timing of the Assembly session as the state faces a host of immediate concerns affecting citizens across Odisha.
