Amid the ongoing investigation into the mysterious death of 28-year-old Lucknow businessman and cafe owner Shiva Sharma, two unverified CCTV clips have surfaced purportedly showing fashion influencer Shraddha Dubey, her sister Rashmi, and their associate Adil at a bus station in Nepal.
The footage has emerged even as multiple teams of the Uttar Pradesh Police intensify efforts to track down the trio, for whom a cash reward of ₹25,000 each was previously announced following murder and blackmail allegations leveled by the victim’s family.
CCTV Footage Details and Escape Trail
The newly surfaced clips are reportedly from the Mahimnagar bus station near the Jamunaha police checkpoint in Nepal:
- First Clip: Three individuals matching the physical descriptions of Dubey, her sister Rashmi, and Adil are seen crossing a busy road. Dubey is dressed in black track pants and a zip-up jacket carrying a sling bag, while Rashmi is wearing dark sunglasses and a printed kurti.
- Second Clip: Captures the trio traveling aboard a local e-rickshaw.
Investigators had previously traced Dubey’s movements from Lucknow through Sitapur and Lakhimpur Kheri to the border town of Rupaidiha in Bahraich district. Police subsequently recovered Dubey’s abandoned black Scorpio SUV (UP 32 QQ 0111) parked near the India-Nepal border, strengthening suspicions that the suspects crossed the international border on foot on October 10.
Background and Conflicting Claims
Shiva Sharma died on October 9 after falling from the fourth floor of Avadh Green Apartments in Lucknow’s Hazratganj area.
- Family’s Allegations: The victim’s mother, Ranjana Sharma, filed a formal complaint accusing Dubey, her sister, and their associates of holding her son captive, subjecting him to physical abuse, blackmailing him, and throwing him off the balcony. An FIR for murder under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was subsequently registered.
- Dubey’s Defense: Releasing video messages on social media while on the run, Dubey claimed innocence, asserting that Sharma died by suicide due to heavy financial stress and debts amounting to ₹15–20 lakh. She denied being untraceable and expressed willingness to record her statement before law enforcement once her health recovers.
While local police agencies continue to verify the authenticity of the Nepal CCTV footage, search operations remain active across border districts to apprehend the accused.
