Jajpur: A college student from Angul area posing as a Sadhu Baba to meet his beloved at Ferrochrome colony in Jajpur road has landed him in police custody here.
People took him for a child-lifter and bashed black and blue before handing him over to local police.
Police sources said the fake baba is a plus-two student from one of Angul’s colleges. He is being questioned for his alleged role as a baba.
One resident Sanjay Jena said after seeing the baba he could understand that something has gone wrong with his posture. Jena said he pulled his beard to test its reality, but the baba failed in the test as the bunch of beard came out from the cheek.
When accosted the baba showed him half kg rice and a few five rupee coins and said he has hailed from the Himalayas. Worthwhile to mention here that the girl’s family are not recognizing the baba’s relationship with their daughter.
