Consumers in Delhi-NCR are set to face higher transportation costs after Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices were increased once again.
The latest revision raised CNG prices by Re 1 per kg, marking the second fuel price hike within a week.
Following the increase, CNG in Delhi will now cost ₹80.09 per kg. In Noida and Ghaziabad, consumers will pay ₹88.70 per kg.
₹3 Per Kg Hike In Just 48 Hours
The fresh increase comes just two days after CNG prices were raised by ₹2 per kg on May 15.
With Saturday’s revision, the cumulative increase in CNG prices has now reached ₹3 per kg within just 48 hours, adding pressure on daily commuters, cab operators, and commercial transport services.
The rapid back-to-back hike is expected to impact auto-rickshaw fares, taxi services, and logistics costs across the National Capital Region.
Transport Sector Likely To Feel Pressure
The repeated increase in CNG prices may directly affect thousands of drivers and transport operators who rely on gas-powered vehicles due to their lower running costs compared to petrol and diesel.
Industry observers believe the rising fuel costs could eventually lead to higher passenger fares and increased delivery charges in urban areas.
Commercial vehicle operators in Delhi-NCR have already expressed concern over shrinking profit margins due to frequent fuel price revisions.
Fuel Price Concerns Amid Global Energy Uncertainty
The latest hike comes amid global energy market volatility and ongoing geopolitical tensions affecting crude oil and gas supply chains worldwide.
India has been closely monitoring energy security and fuel supply stability as international conflicts continue to influence global fuel pricing trends.
Experts say additional fluctuations in CNG and fuel prices may continue if international energy markets remain unstable in the coming weeks.
