A disturbing incident from Kujang block in Jagatsinghpur has sent shockwaves across the region, where a Class IX student delivered a stillborn child after being found pregnant.
The minor girl is currently under medical supervision at the Jagatsinghpur District Headquarters Hospital, battling health complications stemming from the premature delivery.
Hospital sources confirmed that the girl’s underdeveloped physique contributed significantly to the tragic outcome. The circumstances surrounding her pregnancy have led authorities to initiate an immediate investigation.
Upon being informed, the Kujang police have launched a probe to identify the individual responsible for impregnating the minor. Legal experts suggest that the case may invoke serious charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, pending further inquiry.
The incident has sparked widespread concern about the safety and well-being of adolescent girls, especially in remote areas, where awareness and monitoring may be limited.
Local child protection organisations have called for strengthened school-level vigilance and community engagement to prevent such occurrences in the future.
