Saroj Kanta Ray, Former Principal of Govt. ITI, Phulbani, and currently serving as Lecturer in Electronics at Govt. Polytechnic, Dhenkanal, has been convicted in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.

The Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani, pronounced the verdict today, sentencing Ray to rigorous imprisonment for a period of three years and imposing a fine of ₹50,000. The case was registered under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Section 109 IPC.

Ray was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance following an investigation that revealed assets grossly disproportionate to his known sources of income. The conviction marks a significant milestone in Vigilance’s pursuit of integrity within public service.

Following the court’s verdict, Odisha Vigilance has announced plans to approach the competent authority for Ray’s dismissal from government service.

This conviction is expected to send a strong message across government departments about zero tolerance for corruption and reinforces the growing public trust in Odisha’s anti-graft mechanisms.
