Sundergarh: The police today along with Child line officials foiled a child marriage bid and rescued a minor girl near Kuarmunda block office in Sundergarh district.
Reportedly, a few days ago, the groom’s father and the victim’s father agreed to get their children married. Later, locals informed Child line officials about the wedding.
On being informed, childline along with the cops reached the spot and asked for the minor’s birth certificate. During a preliminary inquiry, the Child line officials came to know the minor girl was merely 14-year-old.
The minor has been sent to ‘Disha’, a child line organisation, while the father-son duo has been detained and being questioned by the Biramitrapur police. Further investigation into the matter is underway, sources informed.
