In a proactive push to deliver a clean and accurate voters’ list, senior officials from the Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) office have fanned out across Odisha districts for on-ground monitoring of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

With July 1, 2026 fixed as the qualifying date, the SIR campaign is in full swing. To fast-track the process and eliminate errors, the CEO’s office has deputed high-level officers to physically review progress in the field from July 20 to July 29.

Today, a team comprising Finance Consultant Sanjay Kumar Lugun (assigned to Sundargarh), Deputy CEO Dr. Lakshmi Prasad Sahu (Kendujhar), Assistant CEO Premananda Jena (Kalahandi), Assistant CEO Pradeep Murmu (Angul), and Deputy Secretary Dinamani Naik visited Jajpur district.

The officers closely examined post-draft publication activities — especially the handling of claims and objections, voter registrations, issuance of notices, and timely disposal of cases. They held detailed interactions with the District Election Officer, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant EROs, BLO Supervisors, and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to identify and resolve ground-level challenges.

Special attention was paid to booths and constituencies where form processing and hearings have been delayed. The team conducted sample checks of ERO and AERO offices to assess workflow efficiency.

At the conclusion of their district tours, all officers will submit comprehensive field reports and observations to the Chief Electoral Officer. These reports are expected to trigger immediate administrative and technical interventions, ensuring the entire revision process remains smooth, transparent, and time-bound.

The initiative underscores the Election Commission’s commitment to building a flawless voters’ list that strengthens democratic participation in the state.
