CBI registered a case against three Income Tax officials in Khurda after a farmer alleged they demanded a bribe to deactivate his PAN card.
The accused have been identified as Inspector T. Satya Narayan Rao, clerk Bhimasen Barik, and data entry operator Kumar Samaresh.
Farmer Subas Chandra Sahu from Panchagaon under Bhubaneswar Airfield police limits filed a written complaint with the CBI, alleging the officials sought money for the service. Following verification, the CBI found evidence and initiated a formal case.
Reports confirmed that all three accused are posted at the Khordha Income Tax office. CBI investigators continue their probe, though no arrests or raids have occurred yet. The case has stirred public outrage and raised questions about transparency within the Income Tax Department.
Citizens have demanded stricter anti-corruption measures across government offices to ensure accountability and protect public trust. CBI sources said evidence collection is complete and the investigation remains active. The incident has once again spotlighted the need for integrity in public administration.
