A seven-seater car caught fire near Pal Heights Square in Bhubaneswar on Friday afternoon, triggering panic among passengers and causing traffic disruption across the busy stretch.
Passengers inside the vehicle rushed out in fear as flames engulfed the car. Preliminary reports suggest the fire started due to a short circuit in the AC compressor. The blaze quickly spread, reducing the vehicle to ashes.
The Chandrasekharpur Fire Services team reached the spot and brought the flames under control. No casualties have been reported.
The incident created chaos on the road, with traffic jams stretching from Jaydev Vihar to Xavier Square. Commuters faced long delays as police and fire officials worked to clear the area.
