Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling announced that cancer treatment will now be available under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, marking a significant expansion of healthcare benefits for patients across the state.
Speaking to reporters, Mahaling said the Chief Minister’s Cancer Aarogya Yojana has been incorporated into the state budget, ensuring that cancer care is included among the 121 treatment packages under the Gopabandhu Aarogya Yojana.
He emphasised that the state government will bear the expenses for cancer treatment, making advanced medical care accessible to economically weaker sections. “This initiative will ensure that no patient is deprived of treatment due to financial constraints,” the minister stated.
Officials noted that the inclusion of cancer care under Ayushman Bharat reflects Odisha’s commitment to strengthening its healthcare infrastructure and providing comprehensive medical support to citizens.
