A protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar witnessed dramatic scenes on Saturday after an unidentified woman threw an ink-like blue liquid at Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke while he was addressing supporters during his newly launched indefinite hunger strike.

The incident briefly disrupted the gathering as supporters rushed toward the stage, creating a commotion before the situation was brought under control.

Sharing a video of the incident on social media platform X, Dipke wrote, “Blue is my colour… Jai Bhim!”

The identity of the woman and the motive behind the act were not immediately known. Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.

Dipke Began Fast After Sonam Wangchuk Was Shifted to Hospital

The ink-throwing incident came hours after Dipke announced an indefinite hunger strike following the hospitalisation of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk.

Wangchuk was shifted to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital on the 21st day of his indefinite fast after his health reportedly deteriorated. He had been fasting since June 28 in support of the CJP-led protest demanding accountability over alleged NEET examination irregularities and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Medical updates indicated that Wangchuk had lost nearly 9.5 kilograms during the fast and remained under close observation for blood pressure and blood sugar levels.

Police Detail Operation to Shift Wangchuk

According to police sources quoted by ANI, the operation to move Wangchuk from the protest site was carried out under a carefully planned strategy known only to a limited number of senior officers.

Officials reportedly chose to act at daybreak when fewer protesters were present. Most police personnel deployed at the site were instructed only to reach the venue and were not informed of the complete operational plan beforehand.

Police sources said the operation began after Dipke, described as Wangchuk’s close aide and the protest’s principal coordinator, was temporarily away from the stage.

Around 30 to 35 plainclothes personnel from the New Delhi district’s Special Staff and local police units entered the barricaded protest area before surrounding Wangchuk’s bed. Officers reportedly used large white sheets to shield the operation from public view and minimise disruption while escorting him to an ambulance.

Three-Layer Security Arrangement Used

Police sources said the removal was executed through a three-tier security arrangement.

The first layer comprised plainclothes officers who secured the stage and escorted Wangchuk from the protest site. The second layer included personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Rapid Action Force (RAF), who managed protesters outside the barricaded area to prevent clashes.

Senior Delhi Police officers formed the third layer by supervising the operation from a control point near the ambulance. Traffic police also ensured a clear route, allowing the ambulance to reach Safdarjung Hospital without interruption.

Meanwhile, the Cockroach Janta Party has reiterated that its planned ‘Chalo Sansad’ march on July 20 will proceed despite Wangchuk’s hospitalisation and Dipke’s ongoing hunger strike.
