A major burglary rocked Jamukoli under Airfield Police Station limits late Monday night, with miscreants breaking into the house of Sibashankar Behera and decamping with gold, silver ornaments, cash, expensive watches, and other valuables worth nearly Rs 20 lakh.
According to reports, the burglars entered the house through the rear side while the family was asleep. The theft came to light on Tuesday morning when the residents found furniture overturned and cupboards broken. “We were shocked to see everything scattered. Despite being inside the house, we didn’t hear a thing,” Behera told police.
A scientific team visited the spot and collected samples, while Airfield Police began examining CCTV footage from nearby areas. Locals said a similar incident had occurred in Jamukoli recently, but the culprits remain untraced. The latest break‑in has raised serious concerns over the area’s security arrangements.
Residents alleged that criminals appear fearless, striking repeatedly without deterrence. Police have launched a manhunt based on CCTV evidence and assured that the offenders will be nabbed soon.
