Brown Sugar Worth Over Rs 4 Lakh Seized in Bhadrak, Smuggler Held

Bhadrak: Police seized brown sugar worth over Rs 4 lakh during MV checking in Bhadrak and arrested one person in this connection. The accused has been identified as Shivshankar Das(44) of Kuans Gadia village under Agarpada police limits. Police have recovered 41.55 grams of brown sugar, a Vivo mobile phone and a Honda Shine motorcycle from the peddler. The motorcycle has been seized. The value of the seized brown sugar is estimated to be more than Rs 4 lakh, police said. On Friday, while checking the MV, the police caught the smuggler while he was going to the Jhatiapada area from the locality of Baulapokhari with this brown sugar. The police said in a press conference that further investigation is underway.
