Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch has seized brown sugar worth over Rs 1 crore from near Aradabazaar railway level crossing in Balasore district. Besides, one person has also been arrested in connection with the case.
The accused have been identified as Sheikh Sukra.
Actin on the reliable inputs, the STF team conducted a raid and seized brown sugar weighing 1.50 kg, Rs 28,100 cash, and other incriminating materials from the accused.
Following the seizure, Sukra was arrested and forwarded to the court of District & Sessions cum Spl. Judge, Balasore.
The STF also registered a case in this regard U/s 21(c) of NDPS Act 1985 and further investigation into the incident is underway.
Since 2020, STF has seized more than 56 Kg of Brown Sugar/Heroin, 202 Gram of Cocaine, and more than 111 quintals of Ganja/Marijuana, Opium 750 gram, and arrested more than 157 drug dealers/peddlers.
