Boudh: Launching a crackdown on corrupt officials in the state, Odisha vigilance sleuths today conducted simultaneous raids at places associated with the RTO in Boudh district on charges of amassing disproportionate assets.
The accused has been identified as Basanta Kumar Mohapatra, RTO, Boudh.
Reportedly, the vigilance team led by 2 Addl. SPs, 6 DSPs, 6 Inspectors and other staff on the strength of Search Warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar at the following 10 places in Bhubaneswar(Khurdha), Boudh and Ganjam districts.
1) Room No. 307 on the 3rd floor at Utkal Signature, Pahala, Bhubaneswar.
2) Commercial shopping Complex no. 4 & 5 at Utkal Kanika Galleria, Gautam Nagar, Bhubaneswar.
3) Flat no. 2504, Block-4, Iconic tower, Z-1 estate, Kalarahanga, Bhubaneswar.
4) Three BHK flat No. B/83, 8th floor, Utkal Royal Residency, Kalpana Square, Bhubaneswar.
5) Flat no A-4/1, West end Apartment, Sailashree Vihar, Bhubaneswar.
6) Flat no. 206, 2nd floor, Block Saraswati, Haripriya Enclave, RangaMatia, Mancheswar, Bhubaneswar.
7) office chamber of Basanta Kumar Mohapatra at RTO office, Boudh.
8) Rented residential house of Mohapatra located at Jagannath Vihar, Rajanpalli, Boudh.
9) The paternal house of Mohapatra located at Bhanjanagar.
10) House of his relative at Kamapali, Berhampur.
During house searches so far, the following assets have been unearthed in the name of Mohapatra and his family members;
1) Flat No.307 on the 3rd floor at Utkal Signature, Pahala, Bhubaneswar with an area of approx. 3000 Sqft. worth Rs.1 Crore.
2) Commercial shopping outlets No.4 & 5 at Utkal Kanika Galleria Mall, Gautam Nagar, Bhubaneswar with an area of approx 2500 Sqft. worth about Rs.2 Crore.
3) 3-BHK flat No.B/83, 8th floor, Utkal Royal Residency, Kalpana Square, Bhubaneswar worth approx. Rs.1 Crore.
4) Advance Rs.1.35 Crore paid to the Realtor by Mohapatra for the purchase of 5-BHK flat vide flat No.2504, Block-4, Iconic Tower, Z-1 Estate, Kalarahanga, Bhubaneswar with area 1776 Sqft.
5) Advance Rs.88 Lakhs paid by Mohapatra to purchase a flat vide No.F-1002 in Ozone Elegant-WF-48 at Bengaluru city.
The measurement and valuation/assessment of the above flats and commercial complex are being carried out by the Vigilance Technical Wing.
6) Cash Rs.1,16,700.
7) FD worth Crores suspected in various bank accounts. Bank, Postal, Insurance & other deposits are being ascertained.
In ongoing searches, Bank & Insurance deposits and investments in Capital Gain Bonds worth over Rs.3.75 Crores in the name of Sri Mohapatra and his family members and Gold weighing approx 260 gms have been unearthed so far including assets unearthed earlier today.

1) Axis Bank , Bhubaneswar – Rs.2,11,79,000/-.
2) ICICI Bank, Bhubaneswar – Rs.44,35,000/-
3) SBI, Bhubaneswar – Rs.39,55,000/-
4) Investment in NHAI capital Gain Bonds –Rs.48,00,000/-
5) Insurance deposit in MAX Life – Rs.31,90,000/-
