A shocking incident in the Thuamul Rampur area of Kalahandi district has raised serious questions about humanity and social responsibility.
After the death of Brundaban Sahu from Badachhatrang village, the Bolero driver hired to transport him home allegedly abandoned the body midway and fled.
Family members said Brundaban was admitted to Bhawanipatna District Headquarters Hospital on Sunday evening due to illness. On Monday, relatives hired a Bolero to bring him back home. While returning, Brundaban died near Tentulipadar Chhak close to Karlapat Sanctuary. The driver then left the body under a mahua tree and escaped, leaving the grieving family helpless.
Locals reported that the family remained stranded beside the body for hours without assistance. The incident triggered widespread condemnation, with residents questioning the erosion of compassion and responsibility in society.
Later, BJD block vice-president Bhima Sunani and party workers reached the spot after receiving information. They arranged for a hearse from Thuamul Rampur, which transported the body respectfully to the village.
Community members strongly criticised the driver’s inhuman act and demanded accountability.
