A Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) garbage vehicle caught fire near Sainik School on Tuesday morning, triggering panic among commuters.

The vehicle went up in flames suddenly while moving through the busy stretch.

Firefighters rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control before it could spread to nearby vehicles. Witnesses said thick smoke engulfed the area as the vehicle burned rapidly. The driver managed to jump out in time, escaping unharmed.

Officials from BMC and the local police reached the site to assess the damage. Preliminary reports suggest a short circuit in the vehicle’s engine may have caused the fire.
