Panic gripped Rasalpur Grameen Bank under Sadar police station limits today after five armed miscreants stormed the branch and looted cash and jewellery worth nearly Rs 10 lakh.
The incident occurred around 3:15 PM when the gang entered the bank, brandished firearms, and threatened staff and customers. When the manager refused to hand over the locker keys, the assailants struck him on the head with a weapon, leaving him bleeding. They then forced open the locker and fled with valuables.
The bank, located barely 400 meters from a police outpost on Salt Road, was targeted for nearly 15 minutes, raising questions about police response. Local traders expressed fear after the daylight robbery so close to a police presence.
The injured manager was rushed to hospital, while police teams reached the spot after the robbers escaped. An investigation has been launched, and efforts are underway to trace the culprits.
