The resignation of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) senior leader and former minister Debashish Samantray has sparked intense discussions within the party.
In this context, BJD senior leader Pramila Mallik has directly targeted Samantray with harsh criticism. Mallik described Samantray, who resigned from his position as party vice-president, as “selfish” and opined that such individuals should leave the party altogether.
Reacting to the media, Pramila Mallik stated, “Those who are selfish should leave the party. Discipline in the party is absolutely essential. Those who do not adhere to discipline have no right to remain.” She further emphasised that no one can pursue personal interests within the party, and everyone must follow the party’s policies and ideals.
Notably, after resigning from the vice-president post, Samantray expressed dissatisfaction with the party leadership, alleging that senior leaders are being neglected and that the party’s ideology has undergone a change. This has led to visible discontent within the party ranks.
