Baipariguda witnessed a serious accident on Friday when a bike collided head-on with a hearse carrying a body for post-mortem.
The incident occurred near Rabana Podi Padia when Paraba Chandrapadia (30) was riding towards Baipariguda with a young woman. The hearse was transporting the body of a minor girl from Chikima village to Baipariguda hospital for autopsy. The collision left Chandrapadia critically injured with a fractured left leg and facial injuries, while the woman sustained leg injuries.
Local residents rushed both victims to Baipariguda hospital. Doctors provided first aid but declared their condition critical. Both were shifted to Jeypore district hospital for advanced treatment.
The accident followed a tragic drowning case in Chikima village, where a minor girl lost her life. The hearse was en route to Baipariguda for medical examination when the crash occurred.
