The Odisha government has announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art Science City in Bhubaneswar, aiming to boost scientific research, education, and innovation.
The initiative aligns with the broader vision of Viksit Odisha by 2036, aiming to make the state a hub for scientific development.
Science & Technology Minister Krushna Chandra Patra shared the announcement, stating that the idea was inspired by Ahmedabad’s successful Science City model. “Scientific development is crucial for Odisha’s progress, and this Science City will act as a centre for learning, research, and innovation,” Patra said.
In addition to the Bhubaneswar Science City, the government plans to develop science parks, science centres, or planetariums in each district, ensuring accessibility to scientific resources for students and the general public. Several Odia officers posted in Ahmedabad have also expressed their willingness to support the project by sharing their expertise and insights.
This ambitious step is expected to strengthen Odisha’s scientific infrastructure, foster innovation, and nurture the next generation of researchers and technology leaders.
