Bhubaneswar surpasses Cuttack in crime during COVID year!

Bhubaneswar: The law and order situation in the Twin Cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar continues to deteriorate day by day with the registration of 13297 cases during the year 2020.

According to reports, Bhubaneswar has surpassed Cuttack in crime. The COVID year has witnessed 166 cases of rape, 73 murder, 518 loots, 2404 theft, 849 stealing through underground operation(Sindhi Chori) and 87 riotings.

The Commissionerate Police, in the meanwhile, has released statistics of ten top areas of crime during 2020. The statistics have indicated that despite coronavirus induced lockdown in the twin cities, there was no change in the crime scenario.

In Bhubaneswar alone, 113 rape cases were registered. In Cuttack 53 cases of rape were registered during the period. The comparative figure of murder, loot and thefts have come to the fore during the period.

Bhubaneswar has registered 49 cases of murder, 34 dacoity, 388  plunder, 350 loot and 1862 thefts while Cuttack’s share is 24,16,139,168  and 542 cases.  In Bhubaneswar 518 cases of ‘Sindhi Chori’ were registered during 2020 while in Cuttack 331 cases occurred.

The rioting cases of 67 were registered in Bhubaneswar and in Cuttack it numbered 20. As far as 517 motor vehicle accident cases were registered in Bhubaneswar and in Cuttack it rose to 325. The total number of miscellaneous cases registered in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack respectively are 3776 and 4014 during the COVID year.

During 2020, Bhubaneswar registered 7674 cases of rape, dacoity, loot and rioting etc and in Cuttack this figure has touched 5623. The total number 13297 cases registered in the Commissionarte region. Of this, Bhubaneswar has its share of 7837 and Cuttack has 8464.

The data released by Commissionerate Police during COVID year said 5565 were arrested in connection with  7674  registered cases in Bhubaneswar. During the same period in Cuttack, 4394 culprits were nabbed who were involved in 5623 cases. As many as 9959 culprits were arrested during 2020 in the Commissionerate region.
