The Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar has provided specialised night-blocking training to nearly 200 newly inducted sub-inspectors who have successfully completed their probation.
The training equips officers with practical skills in night patrolling, vehicle checks, drunk-driving detection using breath analysers, and crime prevention measures. Officials emphasised that the initiative is crucial to curb nighttime offences, including illegal activities and drunk driving, while ensuring public safety.
The sub-inspectors, now deployed across major junctions and sensitive areas, are tasked with conducting night patrols and block checks to maintain law and order. Senior officers are supervising the program, ensuring strict adherence to protocols and zero tolerance for negligence.
Authorities stated that such training will continue regularly, preparing new officers for independent field duties and reinforcing Bhubaneswar’s night-time security framework. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with police operations and report suspicious activities promptly.
This initiative is seen as a proactive measure to enhance public confidence and strengthen the city’s safety net.
