The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Food Safety Team conducted a surprise raid on a sweet stall in Jagamara on Wednesday, uncovering adulterated and stale food items.
During the inspection, officials examined chhena-based products and various sweets, discovering substandard and contaminated food. The items were destroyed on the spot, and a fine was imposed on the stall owner for violating food safety norms.
BMC officials emphasised that such raids are part of routine drives across the city to ensure clean and safe food for the public. They warned vendors against selling adulterated or expired items, stressing that strict action—including fines and possible legal cases—would follow violations under the Food Safety Act.
