Odisha Hosts National Conference on Good Governance Practices

The National Conference on Good Governance Practices began today at the Convention Centre of Lok Seva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, marking a significant step in India’s journey toward responsive and transparent administration.


The two-day event was jointly inaugurated by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, setting the stage for a national dialogue on innovation-driven governance.

In his keynote address, CM Majhi emphasised Odisha’s transformation through digital tools and citizen-centric policies. He spotlighted initiatives like the Odisha Secretariat Workflow Automation System (OSWAS) and the Work Passbook, which have enhanced transparency, efficiency, and public engagement.

“Odisha is proud to contribute not just as a host but as an active partner in India’s journey towards responsive and transparent governance,” said CM Majhi. “Let this conference be a milestone on our path toward a New India that is efficient, equitable, and empathetic.”

Union Minister Dr. Singh underscored the importance of regional collaboration, stating:

“Good governance means turning every challenge into an opportunity. By holding these conferences across different states, we ensure that governance models are both locally relevant and nationally cohesive.”

The inaugural session also featured addresses by Surendra Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha, and Puneet Yadav, Additional Secretary, DARPG, Government of India. The vote of thanks was delivered by Shri Yadav.

Jointly organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) and the Government of Odisha, the conference has drawn over 400 delegates from across the country. It serves as a platform to share best practices, policy insights, and innovations aimed at strengthening governance frameworks nationwide.
