Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das has issued a stern warning to pet dog owners, urging them to act responsibly and ensure their animals do not pose a threat or inconvenience to others.
Her remarks came in the wake of the shocking Patiala incident where a couple was attacked by a pitbull. Das clarified that while residents are free to keep dogs at home, they must take full responsibility for their pets. She cautioned that legal action would be taken against owners if their animals cause harm or disrupt public life.
“People can keep dogs at home, but they must do so responsibly,” the mayor said, stressing that pet ownership does not give anyone the right to inconvenience others.
Das also criticised pet owners for allowing dogs to defecate in public places and damage beautification work carried out by the BMC. She urged owners to keep their pets under control while outdoors to prevent attacks or accidents.
