IndiGo cancelled the Bhubaneswar-Dubai flight scheduled for Monday, citing safety concerns linked to escalating conflict in the Middle East.
Biju Patnaik International Airport Director Prasanna Pradhan informed the media about the cancellation. He confirmed that passengers would receive automatic refunds. The airline operates the Bhubaneswar-Dubai service three times a week—Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Airport officials closely monitored developments in the region. Reports of US and Israeli strikes killing Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and subsequent Iranian missile barrages led to airspace closures. Authorities said they would review the situation before deciding the status of Wednesday’s flight.
Passengers at the terminal sought updates from staff, who assisted with refunds and alternative travel options. Businessmen from Odisha, families visiting relatives, and students pursuing education abroad rely heavily on the Bhubaneswar-Dubai route.
