The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in Bhubaneswar arrested 49-year-old Pramod Kumar Sahoo, the former Director of M/s Mishra Creations Pvt. Ltd., on September 5, 2026, for his involvement in a massive real estate fraud exceeding Rs 15 crores.
Sahoo is slated to be produced before the Designated Court under the OPID Act in Kataka.
The case stems from a written complaint filed by Swadesh Ray Chaudhury of Rasulgarh, Bhubaneswar. Chaudhury alleged that he and numerous other investors were cheated under the guise of purchasing flats in the ‘UTOPIA’ housing project located at Chandaka. In 2016, Chaudhury booked a flat and paid an advance of Rs 16 lakhs to the Managing Director, Jyoti Ranjan Mishra, after securing a bank loan and entering into a tripartite agreement. Despite a promised handover within 30 months, the real estate company failed to deliver the flat or refund the invested capital.
Investigations by the EOW revealed that Sahoo played a highly active role in promoting the UTOPIA project at Anlapatna, Chandaka. Alongside co-accused individuals like Jyoti Ranjan Mishra and Santosh Kumar Rath, Sahoo actively sought out buyers, facilitated flat bookings, and helped purchasers navigate housing loan formalities. Furthermore, investigators traced a transfer of Rs 16,51,400 from the company’s account directly into Sahoo’s personal SBI account, firmly establishing his financial ties to the fraudulent transactions.
Authorities seized numerous incriminating documents from Sahoo upon his arrest. Prior to Sahoo’s apprehension, the company’s Managing Director, Jyoti Ranjan Mishra, and Additional Director, Santosh Kumar Rath, were also arrested and forwarded to the OPID Court. The EOW investigation remains ongoing, and the agency has reminded the public of its toll-free helpline, 18003457103, for further information.
