India vs South Africa: Cuttack to Kick Off T20 Series in Style

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced that Barabati Stadium in Cuttack will host the first T20 International match of a five-match series between India and South Africa on December 9, 2025.

This thrilling encounter marks the return of top-tier T20 cricket to Odisha after a gap of over three years. The last T20I at the venue was an India-South Africa clash on June 12, 2022.

The match, scheduled to commence at 7 PM IST, is expected to draw massive crowds and electrify cricket fans in the region. Barabati Stadium, known for its vibrant atmosphere and rich cricketing history, will set the stage for an explosive series opener as India takes on the Proteas in what promises to be a fiercely contested battle.

The BCCI’s decision to bring international cricket back to Odisha’s Cuttack underscores its commitment to promoting the sport across the country’s diverse regions.

The India-South Africa T20I series is part of India’s packed 2025-26 home season, which includes multiple bilateral series and high-profile tournaments. Fans eagerly await the clash, with both teams boasting world-class talent capable of turning the game on its head.

More details regarding ticketing and additional arrangements are expected to be released by the BCCI and the Odisha Cricket Association in the coming months.
