The Director General of Prisons, Sushant Kumar Nath, has ordered the immediate suspension of the Baleshwar Jail Superintendent following serious allegations of professional negligence, security lapses, and misconduct.
The action was initiated based on a preliminary inquiry and an official departmental report. According to the findings, the jail official faced grave accusations regarding a lax approach to security protocols, non-compliance with departmental guidelines, and administrative disarray within the correctional facility.
Following the suspension order, the official has been strictly instructed not to leave the designated headquarters without prior official permission. Meanwhile, a comprehensive departmental probe has been launched to further investigate the matter.
The Prison Department has emphasised that maintaining strict security and discipline within jail premises remains a top priority, making it clear that any form of negligence in duty will not be tolerated.
