The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the Principal of an Eklavya Model Residential School in Nuapada district on corruption charges.
The official was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe to recommend the service extension of an Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM).
According to the CBI, the accused Principal had initially demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant. The illicit demand was made in exchange for recommending the extension of the complainant’s service tenure as an ANM at the residential school in Nuapada.
Acting on the complaint, the CBI registered a case on October 7. During subsequent discussions, the accused agreed to accept Rs 12,000 instead of the original amount.
The investigative agency then laid a strategic trap. On October 7, while accepting the bribe of Rs 12,000 from the complainant, the CBI team caught the Principal red-handed and subsequently placed him under arrest. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
